Getting Your Toddler To Play By Herself

It is frustrating when your toddler wants you to be with her all the time throughout the day as a means of entertainment. And when your toddler calls your name, you know it well it is her playtime. It is very usual for 1 and 2 years-old toddlers who do not want to play by their own until they get any commands and full attention from their moms.

However, this is not possible every time for busy moms. Still, you want to spend time with your kid thinking it is your foremost responsibility to rear your toddler. And in order to offer the best parenting care to your baby, you seem to be lost in the transition and become too much frustrated as your toddler tends to yell at you when you leave her back.

When you teach your toddler to entertain themselves, it is not just a crucial technique to restore your mental peace; it fosters the development of creativity and cognition in toddlers also. We often use to guide our children how to perform a particular task using some objects; in case of amusement stuff too, you should direct your toddler that way. And when you allow your child to do that chores all by themselves, it allows them to explore much needed opportunities on their own. In a nutshell, you can encourage your child to be self-reliant, confident and more curious.

According to a study by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the cognition of toddlers expresses different reactions to toys. They are more expressive to toys when left alone with them rather than having instructions from teachers regarding the techniques to play with them. It is indeed a tough chore to inspire your toddler to play on her own while he insists you to stay with her always. However, with little patience and exercising expertise, you can teach your toddler to play by herself.

Get It Slowly
To make your toddler busy without your involvement, you must start slow. Don’t join her at first. Just watch what she is doing. If she is busy in the chore what she is doing, get away from the spot and move to the other room. The duration of lone playtime depends on their age. A toddler aged only 12 months can play independently for 5-8 minutes. Whatever you see, forget not to encourage it.

Remove the Toys
Collect all the toys back to the box and keep them away from your toddler. Bring them back once again to them after a few weeks as they may seem new to them. This offers you a great opportunity to make a distraction from your absence at least for a few minutes.

Introduce Parallel Play
Parallel play is an effective way to encourage independent play in your toddler. While your baby is looking at a book, you roll your eyes through your books. Or make him stand at the table with her coloring book, while you make sure to finish a work promptly like paying your bills.

Do Not Interfere Too Much
Do not interfere when you see your child is playing by himself. Let him play alone and keep a watch from far. If she sees you are around, she always wants for your attention. Encourage your child to do their own chores like playing by themselves without your instructions, and do not help with their tasks.

Bring A Good Collection of Toys
If you really want your child to become an independent, get a variety of toys with multiple functions like cardboard boxes, blocks, pans and pots and so many. These are great ways to encourage solo play as they offer a large option to remain occupied.

Take the charge and exert these effective tips to help your toddler independent and self-reliant.
As parents, one must ensure that the confidence and independence are instilled in the child from the very onset. Another responsibility that lies with parents is also to ensure a healthy future for the child.
